It’s tricky to sum up this French style genre film inspired by American serials and a typically nonchalant French tradition that we have chosen to warm-up this night of musette music. The star accordion player Émile Prud’homme is key player in this convoluted tale, so is Jean Robic, the cyclist, and Ginette Leclerc, the actress that has “most worked the streets and has most often been assassinated in French cinema”. This film was a first for Gilles de Turenne who, much later, made a career for himself with porn films. We told you so, a genre film...

Etoile Musette

First the age of rock’n roll and later the electronic music scene met cheesy musette music. Now that urban music from the beginning of the 20th century is being revived (Rebetiko, Chicago Blues, Raï, etc.) it seems absurd not to dive straight in. To share the fruits of their musical passion with us Étoile Musette (chromatic button accordion, cabrette and guitar) transport us into 19th and 20th century Paris... where people from Auvergne, Italians and Gypsies mingled, argued and then came together.
